Biography

Eli manages the Sustainable Forests Education Cooperative and serves as Extension natural resources program leader, based at the Cloquet Forestry Center. His programming primarily addresses forest ecology and management, with a focus on climate adaptation and forest resilience. He designs workshops, conferences, webinars and other educational opportunities for professional natural resource managers in Minnesota and the Great Lakes States. He has served in a number of leadership roles including chair of the Minnesota Society of American Foresters; editorial committee chair and president of the Extension Journal, Inc. board of directors; and chair of the Minnesota Terrestrial Plants and Pests Center advisory board. Eli has been with the University of Minnesota since March 2000, based in Cloquet and on the St. Paul Campus. He holds degrees from McGill University (B.S. '96), Yale University (M.F. 1999) and the University of Minnesota (Ph.D. 2013).
