Eli manages the Sustainable Forests Education Cooperative based at the Cloquet Forestry Center. His programming primarily addresses forest ecology and management, with a focus on resilience. He designs workshops, conferences, webinars and other educational opportunities for SFEC members, generally natural resource managers in Minnesota and the Great Lakes States. His programs are designed to both convey content and build learning networks and connections that lead to real on-the-ground change. He currently is chairman of the Minnesota Society of American Foresters and has been with the University of Minnesota since March 2000, based in Cloquet and on the St. Paul Campus. He holds degrees from McGill University (B.S. '96), Yale University (M.F. 1999) and the University of Minnesota (Ph.D. 2013).
