About the Woodland Advisor ProgramThe vision for the Woodland Advisor Program is to be the primary resource for Minnesota woodland owners interested in learning about woodland stewardship. The program is managed jointly by the University of Minnesota Extension Service and the Minnesota Forestry Association. The program is supported with funds from the Minnesota Forest Stewardship Program. The Woodland Advisor program has two main components: Classes and volunteer activities. Classes: Woodland Advisor classes are open to everybody. Class costs vary, but most cost $10-30. Most classes are between two and four hours long. Our goal in organizing classes is to address topics of interest to Minnesota woodland owners. We also do our best to offer classes throughout the forested regions of the state. You can view a list of upcoming classes at the class calendar page. To receive a hard copy of the class calendar,email Eli Sagor. Some people come to one or a few classes. Others choose to complete the full Woodland Advisor training and become active Woodland Advisors. To become a Woodland Advisor, you must complete all ten core modules, plus any five electives of your choice. Volunteer activities: Once you've committed to become a Woodland Advisor, you're encouraged to get involved in volunteer activities.
