Mission

Our mission is to conduct applied education, research and outreach related to northern forests.

Education

Undergraduate students are provided field experience essential to their education as future renewable natural resource managers. Graduate students are provided a setting in which they can develop their research skills and increase their knowledge of forest ecosystems and forest practices.

Research

Long-term and controlled studies that benefit Minnesota's 17 million acres of commercial forest land are conducted. The Center's research is designed to improve the management and utilization of Minnesota's timber, recreation, wildlife, soil, and water resources on forested lands.

Outreach

Programs for natural resource managers and other resource professionals are offered to communicate and demonstrate research results. Programs which seek to increase knowledge and understanding of forest ecosystems and natural resource management are also offered to the public.
